The Adivasis - The First People of the Land

It is estimated that at least 15 million people in South India are Adivasis - ie tribal folk. They predate the Vedic Aryans and the Dravidians. The Adivasi culture and forest gathering and subsistence farming is withering away as many Adivasis are increasingly finding a voice in politics and are finding government jobs in India. This is because there is a policy of reserving jobs for Adivasis as a form of affirmative action.
